groin smells like onions

WHY DOES MY VAGINA SMELL LIKE ONIONS?

Bromhidrosis- a medical term for body odor

The Oniony smell you get when you go to the gym, break out in a nervous sweat or have at the end of a long work day comes from sweat and bacteria.  Your sweat comes from glands in your skin, typically your apocrine glands are the culprit. However, it's not your sweat that smells-it's the bacteria on your skin reacting with your sweat that causes the odor. So really it's not your vagina, it's the warm moist areas that have little to no airflow. No airflow and a moist environment create the perfect living situation for bacteria to multiply.

Clothing

Clothing that doesn't breathe can cause you to sweat more than normal and cause you to develop an odor problem. Wearing clothes made of breathable fabrics can help keep sweat under control. If you need breathable workout pants, look for ones made with a combination of cotton and spandex. Always bring a change of clothes if you sweat a lot. When your clothes or underwear become damp with sweat, change them as quickly as possible to decrease your chances of odor.

Suds up

Shower twice daily (more if you're sweaty) with soap and water, thoroughly cleaning your armpits and groin area etc. If you have sensitive skin, clean the odorous areas twice and only  take one full shower or bath a day. Of course you don't want to dry your skin out but you also don't want an odor trailing behind you.
